In 2018, our world was turned upside down when my son James was diagnosed with leukaemia at just four years old. What followed were years of treatment, hospital stays, and heartache—but also moments of strength, hope, and resilience. Through it all, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital stood beside us, offering the expert care and compassion that ultimately saved James’s life.

This year, James rang the bell to mark the end of his treatment. He’s cured. And as a father, there’s no greater relief or joy. To give something back to the people who gave us everything, I set myself the challenge of running seven marathons in seven days—183 miles in total—to raise money for Alder Hey.

The support has been overwhelming. We’ve raised over £22,000 so far, and I’m incredibly honoured to now be listed on the hospital’s Major Donor Board, alongside names like Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, and even the Royal Family. But more than the recognition, it’s the impact that matters—every penny raised helps Alder Hey continue to care for families like ours.
